The Houston area has various Earth Day events for the community to celebrate mother nature and appreciate the planet.

Earth Day is celebrated worldwide on April 22. 

Below is a list of a few events taking place Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23. 

Bayou Bash at Buffalo Bayou Park 

  • Enjoy crawfish, music, views and brews on Earth Day at the 2017 Bayou Bash on Buffalo Bayou. The fundraiser hopes to raise money to improve Buffalo Bayou and provide more resources for the surrounding community.

Party for the Planet at the Downtown Aquarium 

  • Pack up the kids and head downtown for an Earth Day celebration at the Downtown Aquarium. There will be a scavenger hunt and fish feedings.

  • The Children's Museum of Houston has various activities planned for children at the museum on Earth Day. Events include an interactive poetry performance, sustainable gardening and more.

One Earth, One Choice at Moody Gardens

  • Take a trip to Galveston and celebrate Earth Day at Moody Gardens with their "One Day, One Choice event. The event will have special activities focusing on learning more about the planet and what you can do to protect it.

Party for the Planet at the Houston Zoo 

  • The Houston Zoo is celebrating Earth Day with a big party which will include plenty of activities, crafts, music and more. There will be a Mother Earth Maze, scavenger hunt and ladybug release.

Free Document Shredding at Memorial City Mall

  • KHOU 11 is teaming up with AARP to hold a free event on Earth Day where the public can shred important documents to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft.
