Beyoncé left her Beyhive throne temporarily to enter a plastic and fantastic Barbie World for Halloween. And she brought Jay Z and Blue Ivy with her.

The three members of the Carter family thought inside the Barbie box for their costumes. Bey, in a black and white chevron printed bodysuit with fishnets, was Black Barbie. She finished the look with cat eye shades, a red pout, large hoop earrings and jet black hair, which Twitter was quick to point out is a rarity for Bey, who we usually see as blond or caramel brown.

Donning a hairpiece and tuxedo with silver cummerbund and matching bow tie, Jay was a dapper Black Collector's Edition of 40th Anniversary Ken. Blue Ivy, who will turn five in January, rocked a black embellished jacket with "Barbie" written across the back, a sparkly skirt, and a microphone because with parents like that it's only natch.

Though Barbie now comes in many shapes and sizes, including famous incarnations like the Gabby Douglas doll, Bey seemed to be making a nod to Black Barbie of the 80s. Many criticized that line for having generically white features — the "So In Style" line came out in 2009 and included a greater variety of skin tones and hair types.

Mrs. Carter and her daughter channeled a different set of iconic women this weekend. The mother-daughter duo, along with Beyoncé's mom, Tina Lawson, were Salt-N-Pepa.
