Actor Patrick Swayze succumbed to one of the most difficult cancers to fight. Pancreatic cancer kills more than 35,000 people in the United States each year. It is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths. It represents 2 percent of all cancer diagnoses, but because of its low survival rate it accounts for 6 percent of all cancer deaths.
